Frequently Asked Questions

Will the recycled PET fibres feel "scratchy" like plastic?

No. The recycled plastic bottles are processed into ultra-fine filaments that are spun into a soft yarn. The resulting weave feels remarkably similar to natural wool or cotton, providing a comfortable, plush surface for bare feet on your deck.

Does the rug need an anti-slip mat underneath on smooth tiles?

The weight of the flat-weave PET usually keeps the rug in place on most outdoor surfaces. However, on highly polished porcelain tiles or very smooth timber, an outdoor-rated anti-slip underlay can provide extra security and prevent the rug from bunching.

Can I use a vacuum with a beater bar on the Whitby Rug?

We recommend using a suction-only setting or a handheld brush attachment. A heavy-duty beater bar or "power head" can occasionally pull at the fibres of a flat-weave rug, potentially causing pilling over time.

How does the rug handle high-traffic areas with pets?

The PET yarn is incredibly resilient and non-absorbent, making it one of our best options for pet owners. It does not trap pet hair as easily as natural fibres and can be hosed down to remove muddy paw prints without leaving odours.
