What happens if I accidentally put the cover on a warm burner?

High-quality silicone is heat-resistant, but it is not fireproof. Placing the cover on a burner that is still emitting high heat or has an active flame will cause the silicone to melt or degrade. Always allow the burner to cool for at least 30 minutes before sealing.

Can the cover be used while the burner is full of bioethanol?

Yes. The primary purpose of the silicone cover is to seal the burner aperture. This prevents the bioethanol from evaporating while not in use and stops rain from diluting the fuel, ensuring your next ignition is fast and efficient.

Is the cover tight enough to prevent insects from entering?

The silicone is flexible and designed to create a snug, friction-fit seal over the burner opening. This is highly effective at keeping out spiders, ants, and debris, which can often block the internal flame channels if left uncovered.

Will the silicone perish if left in the direct sun?

No. The silicone used for EcoSmart covers is UV-stabilised and designed for permanent outdoor exposure. It will not become brittle or crack like standard rubber, though it may collect surface dust which can be easily washed off with water.
