No. While polyethylene is extremely durable, it is not heat-rated. Using this bowl as a fire pit or for holding hot coals will cause the material to melt and structurally fail. It is strictly designed for plants, water features, or ice storage.

The Barcelona 1000 has a very large volume. We recommend calculating your soil needs based on its bowl shape; however, to save on weight and soil, you can use a layer of lightweight drainage filler at the bottom before adding potting mix.

Polyethylene is a non-reactive material and will not stain your patio directly. To prevent "water rings" from trapped moisture, we recommend using small pot feet or a saucer to allow air to circulate under the flat base.

The bowl shape is extremely aerodynamic, and the low 1000mm profile gives it a very low centre of gravity. Once filled with soil, it is virtually impossible to tip over, making it one of the safest large planters for exposed areas.
